Chiropractic care for plantar fasciitis in Kilkenny

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation in a band of tissue in the arch of your foot. The tissue connects the toes to the heel. Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain. The condition is very common and is seen regularly in runners, pregnancy, people who are overweight and in people who make poor choices with footwear, especially in the summer with sandals and flip flops etc. The most common age group for this condition is 40 to 70-year olds.

The first complaint most people will have is pain on the underside of the foot, in the arch or in the heel, first thing in the morning. The first few steps out of bed can lead to stabbing pain in the foot. Normal as more movement is put through the foot throughout the morning, the plantar fascia loosens up and is less painful. Usually only one foot is affected but in some rare cases both feet can be affected at the same time.

Here at Johns Green Chiropractic clinic in Kilkenny, your chiropractor will go through a full history and examination of the area. This will start by checking for signs in the foot and heel of inflammation. Your chiropractor may advice X-rays to check for other causes of pain such as stress fracture or heel spurs

Here at Johns Green Chiropractic clinic, Kilkenny our chiropractor likes to find the cause of why the problem came on in that foot in the first place. The aim is to remove the cause of the problem to allow the area to heal. For example, if you are prone to wearing sandals a lot, you may be advised to wear shoes with more support to allow the area to heal. Stretches to the calf muscle and the plantar fascia are advised to lessen pulling on the heel. Chiropractic adjustments to the bones of the foot are also used to correct how the bones of the foot move. You may be prescribed store bought or costume fit orthotics.
